Religious Education

"The essence of all religions is one. Only their approaches are different.”
Mahatma Gandhi

As a Church School, RE forms a fundamental aspect at Grade-Ruan. We follow the Cornwall Agreed Syllabus for RE 2020-2025 which covers Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Islam, Sikhism and Non-religious worldviews, including Humanism. There is also an aspect which focuses on faith in Cornwall.

Each religion is broken down into key questions that are explored by the children and can be seen in our long term 2 year rolling programme. At the end of each unit the children will be assessed against the learning outcomes which will highlight their progression in RE.

As stated in the Cornwall syllabus: "The principal aim of religious education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living."
